Ground Water Recharge Mapping in Iraqi Western Desert

چکیده
Local climate change and water shortage led it essential to assess the amounts locations of groundwater recharge. To keep Iraqi Western Desert's system sustainable. A model was developed estimate soil moisture using artificial neural networks (ANN), geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing (RS). The needed approximately 26.54% total amount rainfall saturate voids before recharged during study years. recharge estimated depending on balancing method. results showed that 455,306,884 m3 rainwater years infiltrated for recharge, nearly half rainfall. Sandy loam soils were most leached groundwater, while medium rates silty lowest in rates.

Regional estimation of total recharge to ground water in Nebraska.
Naturally occurring long-term mean annual recharge to ground water in Nebraska was estimated by a novel water-balance approach. This approach uses geographic information systems (GIS) layers of land cover, elevation of land and ground water surfaces, base recharge, and the recharge potential in combination with monthly climatic data. Long-term mean recharge > 140 mm per year was estimated in ea...
متن کاملA regression model to estimate regional ground water recharge.
A regional regression model was developed to estimate the spatial distribution of ground water recharge in subhumid regions. The regional regression recharge (RRR) model was based on a regression of basin-wide estimates of recharge from surface water drainage basins, precipitation, growing degree days (GDD), and average basin specific yield (SY). Decadal average recharge, precipitation, and GDD...
متن کاملArtificial Ground Water Recharge with a Special Reference to India
Artificial groundwater recharge is a process by which the groundwater reservoir is augmented at a rate exceeding the augmentation rate under natural conditions of replenishment. In some parts of India, due to over-exploitation of groundwater, decline in groundwater levels resulting in shortage of supply of water, and intrusion of saline water in coastal areas have been observed. In such areas, ...
متن کاملFactors controlling tungsten concentrations in ground water, Carson Desert, Nevada
An investigation of a childhood leukemia cluster by US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that residents of the Carson Desert, Nevada, are exposed to high levels of W and this prompted an investigation of W in aquifers used as drinking water sources. Tungsten concentrations in 100 ground water samples from all aquifers used as drinking water sources in the area ranged from 0.27...
متن کاملInfilterability Reduction of Artificial Recharge of Groundwater System in a Desert in the Absence of Sowbugs
Floodwater spreading for the artificial recharge of groundwater (ARG) is a logical alternative to build large dams for water resources management in dry environments so that it not only enhances water security, but also reclaims the degraded land due to the settlement of suspended load on the spreaders. However, translocation of very fine clay minerals existing in floodwater decreases the infil...
